New Opinion Poll Gives New Democracy Bigger Lead Over SYRIZA (VIDEO)


According to an opinion poll conducted by GPO for MEGA Channel the New Democracy (ND) scored a 1.8 percent lead over the main opposition SYRIZA party.

According to the results, ND was leading with 21.3 percent, followed by SYRIZA with 19.5 percent. The ultra-right Golden Dawn party (Chryssi Avghi) received 10.1 percent, PASOK got 6.7 percent, the Independent Greeks party received 6.4 percent, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) 5.8 percent and the Democratic Left party (DIMAR) 5.1 percent.

When asked who is most suitable for prime minister, current Prime Minister Antonis Samaras (and ND leader) was preferred by a whopping 46.3 percent of all respondents, followed by SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras with 29.3 percent. Some 25 percent said neither of the two.

(The geographic coverage of the opinion poll was nationwide and was conducted between 24 and 25 May 2013.)
